Under the patronage of His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi the UAE鈥檚 Minister of Education the Khalifa University managed Emirates Advanced National Research and Education Network (Ankabut) organized today its 13th users meeting which was held today at the Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi and discussed a range of topics around the theme Read Research Innovate.

The conference brought together leaders in education research and technology for specialized lectures and technical sessions focused on issues related to educational technology. The first day of the event drew approximately 500 attendees primarily from the UAE higher education community and over 100 organizations and government entities.

The meeting also explored various education technology aspects of Ankabut鈥檚 services including new services high performance computing (HPC) open track global connectivity learning management systems (LMS) assessment EFADA (Ankabut Library Management System) and security and disaster recovery (DR).

In addition to speeches by Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi Executive Vice President of Khalifa University and Fahem Al Nuaimi ANKABUT鈥檚 CEO there was a keynote address by a representative from IBM that focuses on 鈥淗ow rapid technology changes are disrupting the education of the employment system” and two lectures by Schneider Electric the strategic partner of the event and Huawei the event鈥檚 Platinum Sponsor. Speakers for the technical sessions included lecturers from various UAE post-secondary institutions such as Khalifa University UAEU NYU Abu Dhabi Masdar Institute Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) and Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) in addition to local and international industry such as GBI Campus Management GBM CtrlS- Cloud4C Fujitsu Help AG and Bitdefender.

In addition to the technical program the meeting will was also witness to the signing of two MOU鈥檚 one between Khalifa University and the Canadian University of Dubai and one between the Canadian University and IBM.
