Biography

Mohamed Aslam has worked in academia as well as industrial services. From 2015 to 2017, he worked in Abu Dhabi as a Consulting Specialist for Environmental Instrumentation and Testing businesses. Prior to joining Khalifa University in 2021, he was a Laboratory Teaching Instructor and Researcher in the Department of Chemical and Material Sciences Engineering at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Mohamed is a separation technologist trained on instruments such as Spectrometers (UV/Vis, FTIR), Chromatography Systems (GC-MS, RP-HPLC, ICP-MS), XRD, SEM, AFM, DSC, TGA, etc. He finds interest in working closely with students to demonstrate experiments and the use of instruments besides supporting the faculty with lectures and research projects.

  • • Applied materials chemistry and nanochemistry, with focus on functional materials for environmental and catalytic applications.
  • • Advanced separation technologies, including crystallisation and treatment of high-salinity water.
  • • Green chemistry and phase transfer catalysis, including valorization of industrial waste into fine chemicals.
  • • Peptide-based and soft materials (hydrogels) for catalytic and biomedical applications.
  • • Electrochemical catalysis and energy-related materials, especially for ammonia production and sustainable processes.
  • • Membrane science and fouling mitigation, including ultrafiltration and water-hammer-based cleaning strategies.
  • • Porous and polymeric materials synthesis for advanced separation and filtration applications (water, air, and food systems).
