September 7, 2018

今日吃瓜 participated in the first day of the NAJAH Education and Career Exhibition being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) with a stand featuring its updated logo which combines the University鈥檚 name in English and Arabic as well as a showcase of student projects.听

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development visited Khalifa University鈥檚 stand at NAJAH and viewed聽 student projects on display which highlighted the University鈥檚 advanced robotic expertise as well as its commitment to collaborative research and advancing technology in areas important to the future of the UAE. One project on display called the SHARK ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) is an underwater vehicle designed to reach a depth of 100 meters.听 The ROV鈥檚 operator has complete control over the vehicle and is able to navigate it in all directions using controlled thrusters in order to collect valuable data on marine life via cameras LED lights and an inertial measurement unit (IMU). 聽

Another project on show is the result of a collaboration between Khalifa University Mubadala and Strata.听 The Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) System is a unique unmanned plane designed using the latest manufacturing technologies capable of using less fuel and carrying a larger payload while demonstrating improved communication and maneuverability than current UAV鈥檚.

An interactive driving simulator is also on exhibition.听 Designed by students in the University鈥檚 Industrial and Systems Engineering Department the state of the art simulator uses eye-tracking glasses to conduct studies on distracted driving. The glasses monitor the driver鈥檚 gaze while the simulator creates a realistic driving experience and measures reaction time.

A robotic arm that has been programmed to play the piano is also on display. The arm was created by a group of undergraduate students and supported by Khalifa University鈥檚 Robotics Institute (KURI). The students can control the multi-finger robotic hand and synchronize the fingers to that it can play the UAE national anthem on a piano.

The University which was recently named the best university in the UAE according to international education rankings QS and Times Higher Education also took the opportunity to inform interested potential students about its extensive programs both at the undergraduate and the graduate level. In this exhibition Khalifa University showcased its PhD and Master鈥檚 programs which span a range of specialties in the field of engineering including Robotics Aerospace Nuclear Mechanical and Biomedical.

鈥淓nsuring that our students have access to state of the art facilities and laboratories and the funds and support they need to conduct worthwhile research into areas of particular importance to the UAE is one of Khalifa University鈥檚 main goals 鈥 said Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi Executive Vice President of Khalifa University. 鈥淥ur graduate and undergraduate programs are designed to fill the human capital needs of the UAE鈥檚 future economy which is why you will see us offer programs covering a wide spectrum of focuses.听 Whether our students are conducting research into aero systems or cyber security they are all dedicated to solving real world problems faced by industry and government in the UAE.鈥

Emirati graduate prospective students have an opportunity to see the benefits of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Scholarship Program (Buhooth) which offers students competitive monthly salaries for full time students health insurance to the students and their dependents covers all tuition fees study expenses international conference attendance expenses and provides job placement after graduation.

The University also informed interested students about its two new programs a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Science in Systems and Engineering Management. The Chemical Engineering B.Sc. program at focuses on educating engineers in the design development and operation of the chemical processes by which chemicals petroleum products food pharmaceuticals and consumer goods are produced both economically and safely.听 Career options for students choosing this path include jobs in the nuclear oil and gas and manufacturing industries.

The MSc in Systems and Engineering Management program includes advanced courses in data analysis optimization decision-making tools and leadership skills. These tools will complement the students鈥 existing engineering education and greatly enhance their chances of advancement in their careers.听 The program also offers several specializations tracks in Supply Chain Logistics and Transportation Lean Manufacturing Systems and Healthcare Systems Engineering.

The University also offers nine other unique Bachelors programs including Aerospace Biomedical Communication Computer (with an optional concentration in Software Systems) Electrical and Electronic (with an optional concentration in Power Systems) and聽 Mechanical Engineering which recently聽 achieved ABET accreditation as well as Civil Engineering and Industrial and Systems Engineering and a B.Sc. in聽Applied Mathematics and Statistics with optional concentrations in聽Financial Mathematics/Mathematical Biology.听

The University also offers a number of undergraduate聽scholarships for both UAE national and non-national students with most UAE national students eligible for coverage of 100% of their tuition fees. There are a limited number of full-scholarships available for non-national students with outstanding academic performance and personal qualities.听 As well as a number of partial-scholarships covering 50% or 25% of tuition fees.
